Judge Van Sickle recorded his hand-written notes regarding cases tried in his court in thirty six ledger books. The ledgers date from January 1972 to January 2000, and encompass Van Sickle's tenure on the North Dakota bench, as well as the cases he heard in numerous other districts and circuits. The ledgers were kept in their original chronological order.
