August 1965-July 1966
Scope and Contents
The first series consists of editorial cartoons created by Stuart McDonald for the Grand Forks Herald and the North Dakotan from 1961 to 1968. Through his cartoons, McDonald explored a myriad of local, state, national and international issues. The first box contains his original, hand-drawn cartoons, which measure 11x14 inches. The second box contains the printed cartoons which were clipped by McDonald, mounted on heavy paper, and arranged chronologically in three ring binders. McDonald also noted if these cartoons were featured in any other publication, if the cartoons received any awards, or if the original cartoon was given as a gift. McDonald also included any letters to the editor regarding his cartoons. All of Stuart McDonald's cartoons have been digitized, and can be viewed at the UND Scholarly Commons.
