Scope and Contents The Frank White Papers date from 1886-1940, and consist primarily of correspondence, in the form of personal letters to and from Frank and Elsie White, as well as their son, Edwin. There is correspondence from Frank White to his wife during his service in the Philippines, 1898-1899. There is a small amount of political correspondence, especially when White was seeking the office of United States Treasurer. Scope and Contents

The George F. Shafer Papers date from 1928 to 1948, although the vast majority of the materials are from Shafer's time as Governor of North Dakota, from 1929 until 1933. Correspondence makes up the majority of the collection and these letters deal with the governing of the state of North Dakota.
