Biographical or Historical Information
"Melford Aus, 67, Wadena, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in Elders Home, New York Mills, Minn.
Mr. Aus, known as Whitey, was born August 6, 1935, in Rugby, N.D. He graduated from Minot (N.D.) State University and received a master’s degree from the University of North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1962. He was an assistant varsity men’s basketball coach at UND. He taught and coached at New Rockford, N.D., for two years, and at Minot for one year before moving to Wadena in 1963. He taught and coached basketball at Wadena, and also coached girls’ softball in 1977. On October 23, 1976, he married Beverly Olivanti in Las Vegas. He was inducted into the Minot State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988. He retired in 1992.
He is survived by his wife; and a sister, Lorna (Nick) Heilman, Minot."
