Biographical or Historical Information

The International Credit Association (ICA) was organized to educate individuals on the importance of good financial credit. According to the 1994 Local Association Guide, the ICA mission statement was "to provide support, research and other services for those whose business or professional affiliation is to provide financial services or extend credit for consumer, business or agricultural purposes or provide investigation, collection, computer or ancillary services." The earliest references to the Grand Forks ICA Chapter date fall 1982. Membership by application was open to individuals representing corporations, co-partnerships, banks and insurance companies in good standing. Individuals who did not fit into these categories could also apply for membership and were made members by a 2/3 majority vote by the Board of Directors. Members of the ICA organization attended local, district and national meetings and conferences and sponsored seminars and lectures on the importance of good financial credit. Grand Forks ICA members also worked to educate UND students regarding the importance of maintaining good financial credit. The Grand Forks ICA chapter disbanded December 31, 1998 due to lack of membership. The International Credit Association disbanded on May 1, 1999.
