E. T. Towne Papers
Scope and Contents
The E. T. Towne Papers, 1915-1940, consist of correspondence and essays. The correspondence mainly regards Towne's academic publishing, especially his book Social Problems: A Study of Present-Day Social Conditions, published in three editions (1916, 1924, and 1931). Also included are numerous undated and handwritten essays. Only one, "History of Architecture: A Thesis," is known to be attributed to Towne.

Biographical or Historical Information
Ezra Thayer Towne (1873-1952) was a professor of economics and political science at the University of North Dakota. He also served as dean of the School of Business from 1924 to 1948.
