Biographical or Historical Information
The University Senate was created by the University Council in 1960. It consists of the President, Vice Presidents, Registrar, Head Librarian, and all deans. Professors are elected to the Senate to represent their college or school after serving one year in the Council. The Senate meets once a month. The Senate is responsible for determining requirements for degrees and certificates, requirements and methods for admission to the university, the authorization of new coursework, the institutional catalog and calendar, and providing the general welfare concerning relations/interests of students.
