Ben Hur Lampman was born in Wisconsin, but spent his adolescence in Neche, North Dakota. After founding the Michigan City Arena newspaper in Michigan, North Dakota, he moved to Oregon in 1912 and had a long career in the newspaper industry there. He died there in 1954.
