Biographical or Historical Information

Allan Chandler Young was born on June 26, 1937, in Devils Lake. He was the son of Ray and Jane (Mann) Young. He graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1955. He married Glenda Overbo in 1957. They raised two children and were later divorced. He married Harleen Pfannsmith in 1986. He worked for over 20 years as the General Manager of Manns Department store in Devils Lake, in addition to working for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction in Bismarck. He graduated from UND with a Bachelor's Degree in 1987 and Master's Degree in History in 1989. He taught UND correspondence courses until 2016. Allan Young died in Bemidji, Minnesota, on August 28, 2018. Source: Folder 1 (Biographical Material)
