Biographical or Historical Information
The Grand Forks Area Retired Teachers Association was organized in 1963. The purpose of the group was to "bring all retired teachers of this area into a relationship with shall work for the mutual interest of the group, i.e. better legislation, dissemination of information, to voice individual opinions, and to carry out any programs of general interest to the group." Membership was composed of teachers over the age of 55 who were members of the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association (NDRTA). In 1965, application was made to affiliate with the NDRTA, and on November 29, 1965, a Certificate of Affiliation was signed. In 1969, the Grand Forks Area Retired Teachers Association was accepted for Charter membership in the National Retired Teachers Association
