Scope and Contents
The newsletter contains editorials, special reports and feature guest articles concerning a wide range of issues on both the state and national levels. Politics and religion in society, the Vietnam engagement and war tax resistance, nuclear power and the arms race, revenue sharing, the effects of strip mining in North Dakota, minority rights, women in the priesthood, the actions of the National Federation of Priests Councils, are a few of the topics discussed in the small voice. Several issues of The Bread is Rising can be found in folder 6, while several issues of Charge the Windmills are Weakening can be found in folder 7.

Biographical or Historical Information
the small voice (no capitalization) is a Catholic newsletter, occasionally published and designed to cover significant events not included in Catholic Action News, the official publication of the Fargo Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. The sometimes controversial newsletter began publication in 1972. Robert L. Branconnier, who at one time was pastor of the Newman Center at the University of North Dakota, served as editor of the small voice from 1972-1977. In 1977, Jerome Lamb of Fargo became the editor.
