Biographical or Historical Information

The Wranglers were a semi-secretive group of faculty and administrators at the University of North Dakota (UND). Early in their existence, they supported traditional institutional practices and influenced funding priorities. The authority of the Wranglers greatly diminished in later years due to an influx of new faculty, many of whom had progressive ideas, and when President George Starcher of UND issued a strong statement on academic freedom.
