Biographical or Historical Information

The University Counseling Center’s mission is to provide services and programs to facilitate student development from both a personal and an academic standpoint, within the context of the division of Student Affairs. There are five program areas in which the Counseling Center assists students: Career Development, Personal/Social Adjustment, Educational Development, Testing, and Training. The focus of the services in these areas is to enrich the academic, career, and personal life of each client. In addition, the Counseling Center maintains student data files for authorized academic research, university demography and planning, and consultation with the staff. Counselors and interns are involved with community agencies and organizations. Staff participate in state and national professional organizations.
