Biographical or Historical Information

The Women's Equity Committee (WEC) was created in February 1975 to study salaries of male and female faculty at UND and to recommend salary adjustments. The role of the committee expanded since its beginning to address various issues and concerns regarding the status and professional development of female faculty. WEC sponsored a variety of programs and projects including the Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women, the UND Administrative Internship Program, and an annual conference. In the 1980s, the committee began providing professional development grants for female faculty. To underscore the status of the committee, WEC was upgraded to a presidential committee in 1994 and renamed the President's Advisory Council on Women's Issues (PAC-W).
