Biographical or Historical Information

William Godfrey Bek was born November 20, 1873, in a log house near Washington, Missouri. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He began teaching German at the University of North Dakota in 1911 and served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1930 until his death in 1948.
