Biographical or Historical Information
The Chester Homemakers Club was organized in April 1929 in Grand Forks County. Their motto was "Chester Can and Will" and their colors were pink and green. The first president was Mrs. H. Brandt. Members were from the vicinity of Emerado. Membership increased during the 1930s and was limited to 25 as this was the maximum number of people that could reasonably meet at a home. Monthly presentations were often on topics such as food preparation and clothing. The Chester Club created exhibits for the State Fair in Grand Forks and produced quilts for the Red Cross. The club was still active as of 1979.
