Hilda Erickson Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The Hilda Erickson Family Papers consists of one 25 page photo album. The photographs were taken out of the album, which was not kept due to its deteriorating condition. The photographs were housed in folders in their original order. The vast majority of the photographs are undated. They appear to capture various people, places and events related to the John and Hilda Erickson family during the early to middle 20th century. Also included is one folder of 35 sympathy cards from the death of Hilda (Hallick) Erickson that were sent to her daughter Florence (Erickson) Ferguson. In addition is one folder of miscellaneous Erickson family papers, consisting primarily of obituaries.

Biographical or Historical Information
John Erickson was born in Norway July 21, 1876, and came to the United States with his parents when he was 6 years of age. They settled in Sauk Center, Minnesota. Hilda Hallick was born in Grand Forks September 22, 1878. John and Hilda were married November 22, 1900, in Crookston, Minnesota. The couple had four children, Harriet (1904 - ??), Ruth (1905 - 2001), Vernon (1907 - ??), and Florence (1913 - 1974). The family moved to Grand Forks in 1908. John Erickson died in 1966 at 90 years of age, while Hilda Erickson died in 1968 at 90 years of age.
Ruth Alice Erickson married Edward Deziel (born 1901) August 26, 1926, in Crookston, Minnesota. The Deziels had four children, Ruth (1928 - 1992), Donald (1932 - 2000), Bonnie Lou (1940 - 2003), and Lois (1927 - ??). Edward Deziel died in East Grand Forks in 1982, while Ruth (Erickson) Deziel died in Grand Forks in 2001.
Florence Erickson was born July 1, 1913, and raised in Grand Forks. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School and was later employed by American Cleaners. In 1953 Florence Erickson married Harry M. Ferguson. Harry Ferguson was born April 17, 1915, in Park River, and grew up there. In 1941 he graduated from the school of pharmacy at the Agricultural College in Fargo. He served in the Navy during World War II as Pharmacist Mate First Class. Later, he moved to Grand Forks and was part owner of a drug store. Florence died unexpectedly at her home March 3, 1974, at 60 years of age. Harry died April 11, 1990, in Phoenix, Arizona, at 75 years of age.
