Scope and Contents

The Entre Nous Records consist of ten meeting books, spanning 1910 to 2000, primarily containing secretarial minutes, and seven scrapbooks, 1938-2010. In addition to minutes, the meeting books include constitutions and bylaws (with revisions), newspaper clippings, attendance records, annual reports, and discussion topics. Some of the topics for discussion were book reviews, history of the fifty states, current events, European subjects, drama, art, travel, religion, and literature. The scrapbooks contain photographs, newspaper articles, and other mementos of Entre Nous meetings and activities. One folder of member letters with reflections on the 1997 Red River flood are also included.

Biographical or Historical Information

Entre Nous was organized in 1910 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to further the culture of its members and to fulfill worthy enterprises the club wished to undertake. Membership was by invitation and limited to a minimum of twelve, but no more than fourteen, who were elected by ballot. Meetings were generally held twice per month from October to the following May, and were hosted at the homes of members alternating by alphabetical order. Topics of discussion were chosen by the presenter. Entre Nous remains an active organization in Grand Forks to this day.
