P.E.O. Chapter AF Records
Scope and Contents
The PEO Chapter AF Records, 1947-2011, contain four scrapbooks of newspaper clippings ranging from the 1950s to the 1970s. The majority of the newspaper clippings deal with the personal lives of chapter members, including events such as weddings, births, and anniversaries. Some items in the scrapbooks regard state PEO meetings, fundraisers, and themed parties. Also included are yearbooks, executive materials, and historical information regarding Chapter AF.

Biographical or Historical Information
The PEO Sisterhood was established January 21, 1869, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan University. The organization was established as a philanthropic and educational society for women. Although comprised of only seven members at its founding, PEO now has thousands of chapters and members throughout the United States.
Chapter AF was the third chapter to be established in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The Chapter received its charter on March 31, 1947. During its first year, the Chapter consisted of sixteen members.
