Scope and Contents The North Dakota National Guard Records contain manuscripts covering the early development and history of the North Dakota National Guard, established in Dakota Territory in 1862 as a voluntary military organization. The NDNG served as the North Dakota First Infantry in the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection, 1898-1899 and in the Mexican Border Incident, 1916-1917.
