The Records of the Royal Norwegian Consulate General, 1922-1968, have been divided into ten series. Series 1: General Correspondence, 1940-1944 Series 2: General Inquiry Files, Minnesota, 1940-1960 Series 3: General Inquiry Files, Montana, 1947-1960 Series 4: General Estate Cases, Minnesota, 1929-1968 Series 5: General Estate Cases, Minnesota (Duluth Branch Office), 1950-1960 Series 6: General Estate Cases, North Dakota, 1935-1960 Series 7: General Estate Cases, South Dakota, 1922-1960 Series 8: General Estate Cases, Montana, 1936-1960 Series 9: General Estate Cases, Norway, 1928-1958 Series 10: Miscellaneous Files (passport applications and a mortgage satisfaction case) A searchable index to the names of the deceased has been created for all of the inquiry files and estate cases (Series 2-9) in the collection (see http://library.und.edu/special-collections/databases/consulate-records/). Matches in the index will give the location (box and folder) of the file. Note that the files in Series 1 and Series 10 are not included in the index.
