Scope and Contents
Modern Battle was distributed to United States soldiers during World War II to inform them about the events that led to the involvement of the United States in the war. The book was intended to give a detailed account of German warfare and the importance of military strategies and logistics in modern combat. It contains 253 pages of maps, diagrams, and accounts of battles during the beginning phases of World War II and was written by Lieutenant Colonel Paul W. Thompson, Corps of Engineers, in 1942. Modern Battle was deposited by Jerry Bulisco, Associate Dean of Student Life, University of North Dakota, on September 9, 2004 (Acc. #2004-2714).
