Dr. Hansen's intent was to explore the intersection of the lives of Scandinavian settlers with those living on the reservation. In 2013, Dr. Hansen published Encounter on the Great Plains: Scandinavian Settlers and the Dispossession of Dakota Indians, 1890-1930. This book is available in Special Collections.
