Scope and Contents
The Helene Musick Papers consist of two letters. The first was written by Peter Musick, a resident of Prince Edward Island, Canada, to Katherine A. Musick, dated May 20, 1915. Katherine Musick was Helene’s step-daughter. The subject of the letter is Peter’s ruminations regarding becoming elderly. The second letter was written by Ansten Lie of Hamar, Norway, to his sister, Helene. The letter was Ansten’s first to his American relatives following the end of World War II, dated August 14, 1945. The letter reports on conditions in Norway during the German occupation from 1940 until 1945. The letter was originally written in Norwegian and translated into English.
