Reminiscences of Hyacinthe Villeneuve, Charles Bottineau's adopted son
Scope and Contents
The second series consists of historical material related to Pembina County. One of Grant Trenbeath's interests outside of politics was the history of Pembina County. The series contains accounts by early settlers, copies of government documents and personal journals, and written histories of the communities of Neche, Pembina, and Pembina County. Early settlers such as Charles and Pierre Bottineau and Charles Grant are discussed in depth. Copies of early plat maps show the expansion of Pembina County in the late 19th century. The material gives a clear picture of the early settlement and later expansion of Pembina County between the 1840s and 1900.
