United States v. Wilhelm E. Schmitt, et al, Cr. 6-84-124 and 6-84-125. Major tax protester case whose primary defendant was "obsessed with the idea that the US government is controlled by Communists". Exhibit materials include a handwritten set of assembly instructions for a machine gun which concludes "Test firing: Load a 20 rd magazine and go to your nearest judge or IRS agent and fill him full of holes." Specific charges against the defendants included conspiracy to commit bank robbery and take hostages, conspiracy to impede and injure federal officers, and manufacturing of machine guns. This folder includes recent tax protest correspondence and a post-conviction publication by Wilhelm Schmitt entitled "Twenty-six Years in Prison for Telling the Truth about the Income Tax". Also in this folder are Grand Jury exhibits and indictments. I.
