United States v. Abdula Ilazi, Cr. 3-83-21. Charged with possession of 223 grams of cocaine, with intent to distribute. Stopped at an airport and then searched by officers who noted suspicious behavior including an unusual gait "like a two year old with a dirty diaper," the defendant sought to suppress the evidence found on 4th Amendment grounds. Judge Devitt wrote a highly articulate and comprehensive 15-page memorandum and order [published as 563 F. Supp. 730 (1983)] denying this motion to suppress evidence. Devitt's ruling was upheld on appeal. Pre-trial motions. Additional appeals court records for this case are also present in UND Special Collections, in the Myron H. Bright Papers, OGL #877, Box 201 folders 1 and 2.
