This is a photocopied 13 page document written by Michael F.D. Croteau of Victoria, British Columbia, in 1997. The author is the great-great grandson of Flavien and Zelia Croteau. Flavien was born in St. Jean Deschaillons, Quebec, on January 28, 1845. He married Zelia Filteau on February 14, 1872. Zelia had been born on August 15, 1855, also in Quebec. The family moved to the United States and settled near St. John, North Dakota. Together, Flavien and Zelia had 17 children. Flavien died on April 16, 1926, followed by Zelia on December 12, 1946. Both are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery near St. John. These documents were given to Dr. Virgil Benoit, who donated them to Special Collections. The original donor is unknown.
