The Grand Forks County Chapter was very involved with the Supplemental Security Income Program, a 1974 government program that provided aid to low-income people who are either aged (65 or older), blind, or disabled. The Chapter made a concerted effort to identify those persons in Grand Forks and surrounding counties who were eligible for SSI benefits.
